Make a Slip Knot

A slip knot is used to attach the yarn to the hook. Making the knot is the
first step in beginning any project

slip knot steps:

1- Create a loop with your yarn, leaving at least a 6-inch tail .
2- Place the loop on top of the tail.
3- Insert the hook into the loop and under the tail).
4 -Hold both ends of the yarn and pull gently to tighten The slip knot should be tight enough on the hook that there is no space between the yarn and the hook, but loose enough that the knot slides easily.

Make a Chain Stitch

The chain stitch is used to create a foundation for most crochet work as well as to create space between other stitches in openwork or lace patterns.
Its pattern abbreviation is CH or ch.

Chain stitch steps:

1)- Start with a slip knot on the hook.
2)- Yarn over. To do a yarn over, wrap the yarn over your hook from back to front so that
the yarn is coming toward you.
3)- Draw the yarn through the first loop on your hook (the slip knot). You’ve made 1 chain stitch. There is also 1 loop left on the hook.
4)- Yarn over. Draw the yarn through the loop created by the last chain stitch made.
5)- Repeat step 4 until you have made the desired number of chain stitches. (Do not count the slip knot as a chain. Also, do not count the loop on the hook.)

Note
Adjust your hold on the chain as it grows so that you’re always holding it
near the hook.
Keep the chain hanging down from the hook. Do not let the stitches you’ve
made twist around on the hook.

Count your chain stitches

this picture shows you how to count your chain stitches

so

don't count the stitch on your hock.

Make a Single Crochet

To begin a project with a row of single crochet, create a foundation chain equal to the number of single crochet stitches you require, plus 1. Work your first single crochet into the second chain from your hook. Continue to the end of the chain. Turn.

Single Crochet steps:

1)- Insert your hook into the next stitch, then yarn over by wrapping the yarn around the hook from back to front.
2)- Draw the yarn through the stitch. There are now 2 loops on the hook
3)- Yarn over and draw the yarn through both loops on the hook. There is now 1 loop on the hook.
4)- One single crochet created.
5)- Repeat steps 1–4 until you have completed your first row of single crochet. Chain 1 to
create a turning chain .
6)- Turn the piece. Insert your hook through both loops at the top of the first stitch from
the previous row. Follow steps 1–4.

Half Double Crochet

To begin a project with a row of half double crochet, create a foundation chain equal to the number of half stitches you require, plus 2. Work your first half double crochet into the third chain from your hook. Continue to the end of the chain. Turn

and draw the yarn through the stitch .There are now 3 loops on the hook.

One loop remains on the hook. One half double crochet created.
4 )Continue to follow steps 1–3 until you have completed your first row of half double crochet. Chain 2 to create a turning chain.
5)- Turn the piece. Skip the first stitch at the beginning of the row. The turning chain is
counted as the first half double crochet of the row. Follow steps 1–3 to create a half
double crochet in the second stitch of the row.

Note:
Remember to insert the hook through both of the loops at the top of the stitchfrom the previous row.

Make a Double Crochet

Like half double crochet, you make a double crochet stitch by doing a yarn over before inserting your hook into the next stitch. Its pattern abbreviation is DC or dc.

Double Crochet
To begin a project with a row of double crochet, create a foundation chain equal to the number of double
crochet stitches you require, plus 3. Work your first double crochet into the fourth chain from your hook. Continue to the end of the chain. Turn.

1–4 to create a double crochet in the second stitch of the row.

These pictures show how to do DC

Make a Treble Crochet

Treble crochet (also called triple crochet) is a very tall stitch, which you create by making two yarn over before inserting your hook into the next stitch. The tall stitches create a fabric with more drape than the single crochet or half double crochet stitches. Its pattern abbreviation is (tr or TR).

Treble Crochet

To begin a project with a row of treble crochet, create a foundation chain equal to the number of treble crochet stitches you require, plus 4. Work your first treble crochet into the fifth chain from
your hook. Continue to the end of the chain. Turn.

1 )-Yarn over twice.
2)- Insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and draw the yarn through the
stitch . There are now 4 loops on the hook .

6)- Continue to follow steps 1–5 until you have completed your first row of treble crochet.
Chain 4 to create turning chain .
